How are other teachers using Class Companion?

We support all subjects that have written or multiple choice assignments. This includes Regular, Honors, and AP level classes. 

 featuring many English, Social Studies, and Science assignment templates. This built-in library also includes AP formats such as the LEQ, DBQ, FRQ, and SAQ.

Which subjects do you support?

Students must be invited by their teacher to access Class Companion. You can invite students by sharing a unique link or by sending email invitations.

The student dashboard lists a student's classes, including the class name, teacher name, and number of assignments available for them to complete.

Upon selecting a class, students see two tabs: 

. Assignments lists all open assignments they have completed or yet to complete. Analytics shows students the same insights you can see about that student as a teacher.

How do I experience completing an assignment as a student?

You can get a sense of the student assignment experience by clicking 

 from the Actions menu on the right side of the assignment table row.

What is the student experience?

Here are common reasons for authentication issues.

Check that your student's account exists by navigating to the 

 page from the top nav bar in your class. Check that their email address is in the table of students.

If your student does show up in your Students table, they may be entering invalid credentials when trying to log in. Your student can click on

Why can't my student log in?

You can delete your account from your settings, at the bottom of the page. Here are helpful links:

You cannot access saved information, such as classes and assignments

Your students will lose access to your assignments, but their accounts will be otherwise unaffected

You may create a new account in the future using the same email address as your current account

How can I delete my account?

Students sometimes accidentally sign up as teachers which prevents them from joining classes as students.

The best way forward in this situation is for the student to delete their teacher account and create a new one using the class invite link.

 (this allows the email to be used with a new account).

Click on the teacher invite link shared via email or copied directly in order to sign up as a student with a new account.

Help unblock your students when they accidentally create a teacher account.

How can I convert a teacher account to a student account?

You can add as many co-teachers as you'd like to your classes on Class Companion. In order to invite a co-teacher to a class:

Enter the teacher's email address and click 

The invited teacher will receive an email to join the class.

Add co-teachers to classes, whether for special education, substitutes, and more.

How do I invite a co-teacher to a class?

Yes indeed! Class Companion is free for teachers.

Near the bottom of the page, you will see options to 

Archived assignments will still show up in an "Archived" tab on your dashboard. 

You will still have access to your assignments, submissions, students, and analytics.

You may create a new class. You will have to re-add your students.

You will lose access to your assignments, submissions, students, and analytics.

How can I delete a class?

, select the class to navigate into that class

Your students will be able to join by entering an email address (no confirmation required), with Google, or with Clever.

How do I add my students to Class Companion?

Optionally, your student can copy and paste their submission to the new assignments. This assumes the same assignment exists in the new class. This is mainly relevant for students that change class period during the school term.

Remove the student from the original class so they don't see duplicated assignments.

How do I move a student to another class?

Class Companion can still save teachers time grading without having to invite students. You can get feedback on students' assignments like so:

Have your students complete an assignment as usual (e.g. using your LMS)

Add the assignment to Class Companion (you can even add a custom rubric)

For essays you can more easily copy the feedback by clicking the 

 button underneath the feedback on the right hand side

Paste your student's response(s) to the question(s) and submit

Paste the feedback wherever you usually keep it (e.g. your LMS)

How can I use Class Companion without my students joining?

The AI tutor helps your students on an assignment by providing help without giving away the answer. It is a safe AI chatbot that, like the rest of Class Companion, complies with FERPA, COPPA, and state student privacy regulations. You can always see a student's full conversation history with the AI tutor. For students with accommodations such as text-to-speech or translation, these will work with the AI tutor.
